With its brand new 7G, NewTom extends the benefits and top performance of Cone Beam technology to all anatomical areas and all body sizes. This is thanks to the 77 cm wide gantry and the motor-driven patient table with capacity up to 215 kg, but also to a wide range of functions and automatisms allowing the FOVs and X-ray dose to be modulated.
Up to 90 μm resolution, complete and user-friendly software applications and full connectivity make of our NewTom 7G CBCT the ideal 3D and 2D imaging device for hospitals and radiology facilities wishing to expand their diagnostic capacity and excel in specialist sectors.
CBCT technology, already widely used in the dental, maxillofacial and joint imaging fields to generate high resolution 3D images, is increasingly used in the medical sector as it allows extremely accurate, localized volumetric reconstructions to be obtained compared to traditional MSCT, with X-ray irradiation limited to the area of interest and with generally lower doses than in TotalBody CT.
NewTom, always a pioneer of CBCT imaging, to further expand its imaging potential has extended the fields of application of this technology by NewTom 7G, the device capable of scanning large anatomical areas such as the hip, shoulder and spine.
This is how the NewTom 7G Multi-Scan Body system was born for full-body scanning by irradiating the areas of interest only.
This is combined with a level of precision nearly unmatched on the market: a resolution up to 90 μm makes it possible to examine even tiny and complex structures such as those of the inner ear.
Broad, and at the same time, accurate viewing, suitable for applications in Orthopaedics and Otolaryngology, as well as in Dentistry. Examination of joints, airway study, arthrography and surgical follow-up are just a few of the procedures made possible by NewTom 7G, which uses special protocols and automatisms to optimize the X-ray dose, eliminate distortions and prevent errors.
Among the most popular features of NewTom 7G are the adaptive FOVs, ranging from the smallest size i.e. 4x4 cm to the largest 29x56 cm.
With the eXtra FOV function, an extended FOV is available up to 62 cm in length.
Each FOV is associated with 4 simple acquisition protocols (Low Dose, Regular, Enhanced and Best Quality) with which a doctor can precisely modulate both the area to be irradiated and the X-ray dose based on diagnostic requirements and patient characteristics. This level of versatility is particularly valuable in the case of pediatric patients and for post-operative follow-up.
The eXtra FOV function lets users extend the field of view longitudinally to analyse anatomical structures such as the spine and limbs, up to 17x62 cm and 29x56 cm. This is an automated protocol which, via patient table movements, groups together from 2 to 4 FOVs in sequence in a single exam.
For NewTom, patient safety has always been a priority, which is why it has promoted the use of pulsed emission CBCT technology, which activates the X-ray source only when needed. Moreover, NewTom's SafeBeam™ feature automatically adapts emissions to the patient's anatomical characteristics, eliminating any risk of overexposure.
The radiologist can also adapt emission to further reduce the dose or conversely, increase it by manually adjusting the parameters as required, according to specific diagnostic objectives, and then enter customised settings based on personal experience.
Static and dynamic 2D
The Ray2D, Cine-Scout and CineX functions help to expand each surgery's diagnostic offering. Ray2D can be used to perform 2-dimensional assessments from multiple angles prior to 3D scanning. The CineX serial radiography function allows users to examine anatomical structures in motion to assess joint mobility.
Finally, the Cine-Scout function allows users to perform directly on-board the machine all operations that require direct action on the patient such as, for example, injection of contrast media.
The advanced level of engineering development of NewTom 7G is clearly reflected by the ergonomic and user-friendly design of the machine.
The servo-controlled patient table ensures perfect patient positioning, reducing possible movement-related artifacts. With its minimum height of 57 cm and extensive travel, the table ensures easy access under all conditions and remote adjustment of the patient's position.
Scanning can also be carried out from the rear of the device by conveniently fitting a seat. Up to 4 touch-screen control consoles allow an operator to select an exam and position the patient; they are located on the side of the gantry and are always accessible throughout the workflow. The 22” Full-Touch monitor that can be installed on the machine gives access to complete software to view the X-ray images in real time.
In addition to the mentioned automatisms, such as adaptive FOVs and SafeBeam™ technology, NewTom 7G also offers assisted patient alignment with multiple scouts to view the exact region of interest, minimising it as required and automatically repositioning the patient. Assisted alignment reduces the risk of errors, which is more likely in manual procedures based on laser guidelines only.
Remote connectivity and monitoring
The NNT software, the actual machine "brain", has advanced tools to manage and share diagnostic images. NewTom 7G is able to interact with the office management software, RIS/PACS systems and DICOM printers, as well as with other acquisition devices such as cameras, sensors, PSP and CBCT scanners.
Additionally, the digital virtual assistant Di.V.A. provides data and usage statistics with which to plan workloads and maintenance, enhancing the dental practice efficiency.
